Everyone knows the song Free Bird by Lynyrd Skynyrd.
I was listening to it yesterday while playing Rock Band with the family.
I decided that the term can be open to interpretation.
The way I hear it, its just a cop out.
Its a man saying in as few words as possible
that he refuses to settle down.
He just can not. Because he can not change that hes a "FREE Bird"
I think it means that he Will not change.
"My husband says, "All men change if they are married."
Which reminded me of one of my favorite quotes.
A woman marries a man, thinking he will change.
But he doesn't.
A man marries a woman, thinking she will never change.
And she does.
I think that married men might try to grow,
I don't think they change much about themselves.
But they do love, and they adapt, because of that love.
It it sad to continue to always live your life as a free bird.
You never let anyone truly love you.
I think its because the "Free Bird" knows not how to truly love.
They do not want to be married, for they think of it as "tied down"
Which can in turn hurt the children if they ever have any.
Children do not understand the thoughts behind,
I can not change...
They only know that you left them.
You ran from them.
To "I can not change."
I say, Change is the only constant.

E-book
On the bright side, look at all that space your saving! |
E-books are the books of the future.
I am afraid we wont have new books to hold and to read
in 10-20 years time.
This is only made more clear with the closing of
Borders Book Store, that has been announced.
I love E-books, but I also love traditional books.
I love feeling the paper, smelling the new binding,
No more excess of trees being cut.
Even Schools one day may issue all the students
iPads in which to hold all the books they will need.
Newspapers will be fully online as well.
As of now you can get your subscription on line
or in E-form. Just not the entire content.
Are you ready for the new age?
Will you abandon reading for pleasure all together?
Or will you join in and get your own Kindle or other E-reader device.

Determination wears sneakers
Today I am up to the letter D.
I would like to show you Determination.
Determination can be present in many ways in your life.
It helps to use it wisely.
Put it to work for you in ways that will help you
to achieve all your goals.
To show you I want to talk about a very determined person.
I have told you once about my lovely cousin, Julie
who is running with The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Team In Training.
She is running to raise money for the society.
She asked me if I would interview her for her Fundraising blog.
I of course said yes.
The link for it is here
Im-a-Runner
I love this cause, it touches home for me.
I lost my father to cancer when I was only 16.
It was the hardest thing I have ever gone through.
I think that says a lot being born with a physical handicap.
I have never let that slow me down, I still have limits though.
I wish I could join Julie in this endeavor that she has embarked on.
So I am showing my support by this blog.
I encourage you to donate and help with the fight.
We have all had family member and loved ones who
have fought this disease and Won or Lost.
Here is the link again to donate and Help Julie
Reach her Fundraising goal.
If you feel the tug to help please do so.
http://pages.teamintraining.org/ntxok/Whiterck11/jkimble
And I just want to add to Julie what an inspiration you are to those around you. Your light shines brightly to all who meet you. I hope the best for you in your goals both personal and in your fundraising.

Cowboys live 8 Seconds at a Time
I had a major thing for cowboys when I was in high school.
It all started with a certian one.
LANE FROST
I have been watching movies lately that I had not seen
In Years.
The latest I watched is 8 seconds.
Love that movie!
I was surprised that I still knew all the words
to the poems that Cody wrote.
(Cody is not a poet and did not write the poems that were in the movie)
Yes I knew most of the words to the rest of the movie too.
Although not as many as Dirty Dancing.
That is a movie I can quote word for word.
In my opinion Lane Frost had a huge impact on the world.
Wheather it was those who hearts he touched that loved him.
or the movie watchers who only knew his legacy.
He reached out and made a difference.
Here is a great site I found with lots of info on Lane and the movie
http://www.lanefrost.com/home.htm
One of my favorite parts of the movie is the poem at the end.
It was titled Cowboy is his name for the movie.
I have learned that it is actually a shortened version of
"Legacy of a Rodeo Man" by Baxter Black.
You can go here to read the full Poem
http://www.cowboypoetry.com/bb.htm#Legacy
But I am going to put the movie version here.
I hope you love it as much as I do.

His legacy is rodeo
And cowboy is his name.

Cowboy Is His Name
There's a hundred years of history
and a hundred before that
All gathered in the thinkin'
Goin' on beneath this hat.
and a hundred before that
All gathered in the thinkin'
Goin' on beneath this hat.
The cold flame burns within him
'Til his skin's as cold as ice
And the dues he paid to get here
Are worth every sacrifice.
'Til his skin's as cold as ice
And the dues he paid to get here
Are worth every sacrifice.
All the miles spend sleepy drivin'
All the money down the drain,
All the 'if I's' and 'nearly's,'
All the bandages and pain,
All the money down the drain,
All the 'if I's' and 'nearly's,'
All the bandages and pain,
All the female tears left dryin',
All the fever and the fight
Are just a small down payment
On the ride he makes tonight.
It's guts and love and glory, All the fever and the fight
Are just a small down payment
On the ride he makes tonight.
One mortal's chance at fame.
His legacy is rodeo
And cowboy is his name.

Bee
B is a hard one.
I could not think of which topic to write about.
Its Back to school time.
Boredom?
Beauty?
Bands.....So how about all of them for a change.
Kids everywhere are buying supplies,
Meeting new teachers,
Making new friends.
Parents are getting that quiet time they have been wanting.
Smart minds are being molded.
College students are one step closer to being turned loose
on the great big world.
Some have chose to go back to school and learn new things.
Good luck on the new year to all the students out there!Boredom
News Flash! A cure for Boardism has been found!
Get a Hobby. :)
Old Quebec City city of snow |
Beauty
When I think of Beauty I am reminded of a trip I tookWhen I was a JR in high school to Canada.
Our last day there the snow was so thickly falling
We could hardly see in front of our faces.
From the Tour Guide Chuck, I hear this,
Wow, It's such a beautiful Day!
I began to think about that.
Because here we were, Americans complaining of the cold.
I know I could barely walk.
In fact I was carried back to the bus by
Scotty Enlow, a fellow student.
But Chuck seen beauty.
It was beautiful. The snow touched everything you looked at.
It was white, and clean, and new.
Ever since then on rainy days or snow covered times,
I look for the beauty that only open eyes can find.Bands

A is for Autism
So I have this idea.
Thinking I will Alphabet blog for a bit.
Every Weekday Starting with the Letter
I will choose a topic to write about until
I reach the end. (Z)
This is an experiment and I hope I stick to it. lol
So Today I will start with A.
I am choosing a topic that I have been wanting
To write about since I began this blog.
Autism
Autism is a developmental disorder
that appears in the first 3 years of life,
and affects the brain's normal development
of social and communication skills.
Autism affects boys 3 - 4 times more often than girls.
Now they are finding that there are variations.
Which is now classified as Autism Spectrum Disorder.
One of my very favorite TV shows follows a family
who's son was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum disorder.
Parenthood on NBC. (Tuesdays at 9pm new season soon)
It shows the struggles they face as a family.
As well his own personal struggle.
It is very heart wrenching at times to watch this family.
Outsiders have a hard time understanding.
They might think that the child is just "undisciplined".
Which is not the case.
I am not writing this to diagnose or list symptoms.
Simply to spread awareness.
To help others to understand.
I do have a few people that I follow on Twitter that
might help you with that.
They are also good for support.
I will list them here.
@christybutch
@MyAutismTeam
@autismspeaks
I also want to give you a Mom's opinion
So I asked one such Mom and here are her thoughts:
"The hardest part of having a child with autism isn't that my child is autistic, but other people who don't understand or know about autism. Having to deal with the stares and comments made in front of or toward my child. The remarks made about his not being "normal" and I reply back he is better than "normal" he is briar and I love him as is. I'm constantly amazed how many still don't know of or believe autism, and I try to educate. But some will always choose not to listen or learn, an those people are missing out on knowing a lot of special amazing children. Loving an autistic child isn't the blessing , the love of an autistic child is a blessing." ~Jenny

Gone with the Wind
I spent my sunday watching one of my favorite classics.
Gone With The Wind.
I have not watched it since I was a teenager.
While I was watching it I started questioning
Why this was a favorite of mine?
Scarlette is such a master manipulator.
She fake crys on cue, steals her sisters man,
No wait, both her sisters Men,
Marry's 3 men she doesnt love,
Lusts after her only friend's husband..
the list goes on.
So how did she get to be one of the greatest
movie heroines of all time?
Just because she is a strong willed motivated woman?
What about everything else?
She loved the wrong man for years.
All the while she had a Handsome
Extreamly wealtthy man who loved her.
And in the end she was all alone.
How is this a love story?
Ok, so she did what she had to do.
She brought a baby into the world all by herself,
She nursed many a wonded soldier,
She took care of her entire family after the war.
She killed a man to save herself and her family.
She did get the money to save Tara, (by marrying her sister's Mr. Kennedy).
She started and ran a very successful business.
All in all I don't think she ever went hungry again.
But are there limitations to what you do to
better yourself, and to take care of yours?
Well in books and movies no there's not.
Is there any movies that once you sat down and
really paid attention, or were old enough to fully
understand you were dissipointed?

Publishing Woes
Hello blogger world.
I have been recovering from the house project the last few days.
I got over heated painting that bed in over 100 degree temps.
But I can't stop once I have begun a project that big.
Therefore, I over did it.
So now I'm mostly back to normal and ready
to get a post out to all of you.
So I am still in my research about the publishing world.
I have learned lots of new things.
I still have no idea which way I am going to go.
Here's the skinny.
So to go Traditional you must have an Agent.
Which seems like a daunting task.
I really want to go Traditional.
Cause I'm a Traditional Gal.
I want that newly binded fresh book to hold in my hands.
But I am now hearing to get an Agent you must
have 5,000 copies sold.
So I may be going the Amazon Kindle route.
I will take any advice you might have.
If you want a sneak peek or a preview
Sound off here and let me know.
If I get enough I will post it here!

Bed Room Project
Yesterday Mom and my brother came over to paint
My son's room.
Got it all painted (Lime Green)
Got the bed moved in.
Now we have been moving all the stuff back in.
He has a lot of stuff!
You would not believe the stuff I found.
A toilet paper roll with tin foil on one end.
This was apparently used because he had no pocket one day!
Yes I am serious.
This was a conversation between him and the hubby.
"Looks like this cardboard is in the wrong pile.
This is trash right."
Son: "No, that's my cardboard pile."
He saves boxes his toys come in so he can craft.
Again, Yes I am serious.
Ok here's the bad part.
He is totally my son.
I keep things I MIGHT use one day.
I am getting better about it.
But I was just as bad as a child.
My Mom would clean my room when I was gone,
So she could throw stuff away! LOL
But here are pictures I promised you.
I did not get a before of the bed. Sorry.

After |

Bed Project
Todays post is going to be short n sweet.
I have been working on a project for a week now.
We got our son a loft bed with shelves and such.
I had to paint it cause it was an awful color!
So today we are painting his room as well.
Then putting in the bed.
I am hoping this will help with the clutter
and mess in there!
PIX to come of before n after!
Hope you are enjoying the new look of the site!

Breaking Dawn Countdown
Today marks 100 days until Breaking Dawn hits the theaters!
Yes I have been waiting on this day.
Its a lot closer than 200 days..
Sadly I have been watching my hit counter since the last movie was
in theaters.
But that's Normal!
It is if you live in Twilight world everyday
like the rest of the Twilight Fandom do.
We blog about our love of all things TWI
We chat together about how "Perfectly Normal"
our behaviors are.
We write fan fiction, so as to have new things to
drool over while we wait for tiny morsels
of info on the "Next" movie.
We read and re-read the series.
We beg Stefanie Meyer to Puuuullllleeeeeezzzzzfinish and publish Midnight Sun!
Our brothers-in-law hide our Twi-collection
during our son's birthday party....
Oh wait...Maybe that's just me..
And yes we count down the days until
Our favorite characters grace us on the big screen again.
I confess I have even created fan art.
And made tote bags from it, so as to
carry Twilight every where I go.
I even have 2 different Edward Dolls.
But I will be mad AGAIN
if I have to see Edward wearing RED lipstick
in this movie too.
It distracts me.
Why would he have cherry red lips people???
I still say that the first movie was the best.
Everyone looked normal, just a little pale.
That's how the books described.
Everyone acted normal.
I felt as though the Cullens were creepy
in the ones that followed.
So say what you will about Cathrine Hardwick
But I think she hit the spot.
So for the next 100 days I will hold out hope that I will
see some of that movie magic from the first in the series.

Goodbye Harry Potter
So the last Harry Potter film has hit the theaters.
I have yet to see it.
Just no time lately.
Last night on the Teen Choice Awards
there was a tribute to Harry Potter.
The video is at the end of this post.
Check it out!
I have been a Harrry Potter fan for years.
I am the one who got my son into it.
I have always liked fantasy stories.
It has been 11 years since the cast first started making the films.
Longer since the books came out.
I only just read the books though.
I finished them a few months back.
Normally we go to the theaters during the first week
to see films like these.
But on the last 2 I just have not got to do that.
Its not just Harry Potter series that we have to say
Buh Bye to.
I am as you know a Twi-Fan.
That Saga is coming to an end next year.
As well as my soaps that are going off the air.
I did learn of an online reprieve for the soaps.
But why now is everything ending all so close together?
What will we do?
Those of us who have been on the long ride all this time.
We have waited for each film release,
We have bought merchandise.
Tried to get our friends hooked.
Now its over for the HP fans.
Side Note: Something you should know about me.
I Am a fan of TV and movies. I have always been addicted to TV. As well as a human TV Guide.
The reasoning, Or the one I believe it is, Is that as a baby my Mom would put me in front of the Television so she could clean the house and such. Since I could not just get up and crawl/walk away very easily. I watched. So soaps have been apart of my daily routine since I was born.
So this is why I blog on Shows, Movies, books and such so often. This is what I do.
So as i was saying,
Its the end of an era.
And 2 more are ending in the next year.
We all need new hobbies people!
I guess I will get that quilt made that I bought material for last month.
:)
So farewell Harry, Ron, Hermione, and even Hagrid.
I will miss you all.
Did anyone else cry at the end of the last 3 books like me?

Article Know How
My sophomore year in high school I was on the Yearbook and Newspaper staff.
I joined because I wanted to work on the Yearbook.
Which is where I got my first training in Page design.
But when it came to the Newspaper I was not as thrilled.
We were not given assignments like I had thought.
We were just told to find a topic and write about it.
I did not do well with this.
And I believe it resulted in my only getting 2 or 3 articles
total that made it into the paper.
Now that I think about that I am surprised.
First that now I can come up with so many topics for this blog.
And secondly, if it is so easy now,
Why was it so hard then?
I am not sure I have the answers.
I was unsure of my self at that age.
I had not come in to my own.
My father had just died and I had only been at that school for one year.
I knew I was a leader,
Yet with few friends I did not know how to lead there.
That could be why.
It make the most sense.
I am glad that now I can come up with my own ideas.
I don't have to wait for someone to tell me what to blog about.
But I am going to tell you to read it!
Read me often.
And Recommend me to your friends!

Relationships
In the course of our lives we have several types of relationships.
And I have learned that it takes work to hold any of them.
Even with family, relationships can be so hard.
When you are that close it can go bad in an instant.
Someone has a bad day and everyone in that path gets wiped out.
Some relationships are as easy as breathing,
Others can be so hard you just let them slide through your fingers.
I have had a few of my relationships take bad turns lately.
I am learning that somedays I just dont have the fight in me.
People are only human ofcourse.
But at times I can't take the petty bull that gunks up
a persons concerns.
Its to small or too childish or whatever the case,
for me to feel the need to argue.
I'm not talking about Relationship with your sopuse.
Relationship just isn't the right word for that.
More like "Life Force"
That's a better word for marriage.
It goes above an beyond any regular term of the word.
Marriage has different rules.
You just tell your spouse to, knok it off.
You go on with your day, all is well.
But with friends or close family,
that can't always be done.
Egg shells exsist that must not be crushed.
Some people grow and change
While others do not.
We all grow at our own speed.
Sometimes leaving others behind.
I hope that in all your personal relationships
It is as easy as breathing.
If not, but it is still worth it to you,
Be as Edward in Twilight,
Breath out of Habit.
And I have learned that it takes work to hold any of them.
